My son recommended Desford Dental Care to me as I have a fear of dentists especially injections after having several reactions to them but Hanish immediately put me at ease & I was fine. On several of my visits I have met a lovely assistant named Jess who also put me at ease. Hanish passed me onto Shilpa for reconstruction of my front teeth, on my first appointment for discussion of treatment I was immediately put at ease as I was on the 2 treatments of 2 hours each appointment & I was also pleased on each visit to have Jess as the assistant & on each occasion the care & professionalism of both Dentists & assistant was first class.Also all the reception girls are very welcoming, caring & polite.I would not hesitate to to recommend Desford Dental Care to anyone.Thank you all so much

Very well run Dental practice. Strong regular communication and reminders circulated which is a good sign of being very organised. Had two interventions this week from Dr. Sonam THAKKAR, both went very well. Dr Thakkar was explaining the procedure every step of the way and all went superbly well. Personally I do not suffer from 'Dentist nerves' as some do however the entire team always make you feel so welcome, as if more of a friend rather than a patient, nervous or otherwise.Yesterday I had to have a little impromptu 'drill & refill' with the lovely.....and so much fun - Dr. Sonam THAKKAR and her equally charming colleague. Throughout the procedure they both put me at ease (despite feeling absolutely fine) and explained everything they were going to do / as they did it.Excellent 'pain free' work in a professional environment was completed as usual..........with a some banter along the way!Such a refreshing change to come to a surgery where there is no stuffiness whatsoever, something I am sure would only add to any nervous patients inner fears.5 stars

I had some rather exceptional treatment today carried out by the wonderfully talented & lovely Shilpa Chotai who is a Bioclear trained dentist at the Desford Dental Care practice. The treatment is very specialised & requires a great deal of skill & patience. Hopefully it was going to be 2, fairly straightforward, white, Bioclear fillings, however, when she removed the old filling, a large amount of tooth came away causing a great deal more work & problem's than anticipated for her. Nevertheless, she grasped the situation with both hands & of course expertise & after a lot of patience & perseverance, I now have 2 beautiful teeth to be proud of! I'm no dentist but i can appreciate the artistry that Shilpa created. I have a follow-up appointment booked in a couple of weeks to report how things have been & I received a lovely phone call this afternoon asking how I was after my treatment earlier today & asking me just to be mindful of certain things. I cannot thank the team enough at the Desford Dental Care & if anyone is looking for a more 'bespoke' white filling, then Bioclear & Shilpa could be the answer!

All the staff here are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome.I can not thank Matthew enough for the work he has done, I was very nervous but straight away he made me feel happy and relaxed, Ive had some complex work done and he was constantly making sure I was ok, wich made me feel comfortable and relaxed with him. His work is outstanding and I can’t recommend him enough!Overall this dental practice is amazing, and has helpful, friendly staff, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

My wife suffered toothache over a weekend. We are both patients at Desford, so at 8.30am Monday I telephoned for an appointment, although busy that day the Receptionist managed to fit her in at 9.40am. The tooth requires an extraction carried out swiftly after a thorough explanation from the charming lady dentist, and an hour later we're home. Although on medication my wife suffered Minimal bleeding and absolutely no pain. Our very grateful thanks to all at Desford - the highest recommendation from us both, they are superb

I have to say like many my dread at going to the Dentists is tremendous , Partly due to the treatment and experiences in the past. But at this practice right from the beginning all the staff put you at ease. The receptionists are friendly and professional, Dr Chotai is a man that puts you at ease and always explains what he is going to do, you never feel under pressure . All the staff have empathy. I was very nervous when I first started going to the dentist, but I went because I did not want my son to grow up with the same fear. Desford dental care was brilliant and I cannot recommend them enough. They made me feel welcome and was very patient with me, from reception to treatments. Due to the lack of NHS patient capacity i have received all the dental work required at this practise for the last five years. Recently following an abscess in a front tooth that required removal. After a course of antibiotics came the day for extraction. After the necessary injection, Hanish removed the tooth painlessly. Not only that but as the feeling returned I expected , at the very least, to require some paracetamol. Not at all !!! No bruising, no pain, no discomfort at all just waiting painlessly for the wound to heal. Great treatment by a great dentist and pleasant staff.

Recently joined this surgery as an NHS patient and initial impressions following first visit for a check up were very positive. Reception staff very friendly when booking appointment and dealing with paperwork during first visit. Also very impressed with my Dentist, Bhavisha Patel. Examination was very thorough and options for potential further treatment were explained to me very clearly with the benefits/risks associated with each. Overall highly recommended.

Today I have visited Desford Dental Care for my 6 monthly hygienist and also to have my check up with Hanish. No matter how many times I visit the dentist I am apprehensive, but they are so kind and reassuring. The hygienist and assistant were really kind and the procedure was no problem, talking all the way through thank you both.... Hanish is very friendly and smiley. I needed attention to a molar and Dr Shiv informed me of the different treatments that were available. He offered advice on the most suitable treatment for the short term and further ahead. He and Nurse Beth answered all of my questions thoroughly and both had lovely bedside manners. My treatment was quickly performed and I suffered no pain whatsoever. I didn't even feel the injection to numb my gum! As usual, a first class service 💯. Thanks to everyone at Desford Dental Care.

As someone who is very nervous of anything to do with Dentists finding a new dentist was a journey I managed to avoid for a long time.I am so glad that I started to attend Desford Dental Care. I noticed the other day, that one if my fillings had come out, so I rang the dentist about 1pm on Tuesday the 16th January and was offered an appointment the very same day at 3.30pm.When I arrived at the dentist surgery, I had literally sat down when I was called, I went straight in and had a examination that the dentist said that he would do a permanent filling straight the way.Now that's what I call an excellent service.The dental practice is Desford dental care.And my fantastic dentist is called Dr.Shiv.I would highly recommend a visit.

I concted Desford dental care today with chronic toothache. I have a fear of going to the dentist and have had bad experiences in the past with other dentists. The reception team were lovely and got me an appointment today. I felt at ease as soon as the dentist came to get me from the waiting area. Mr Chotai was welcoming and understood my anxieties. The dental nurse present was extremely friendly and I felt like they took time to get to know me as a new patient. I would highly recommend this dental practice to anyone who is looking for a friendly experience and a fantastic service.

I cannot believe that I had 2 roots removed today, my fear of the dentist has left my teeth needing some attention (a lot). I have gone from having to have someone drive me for just a check up, having a scale and polish to X-rays on another session. I can’t believe I wasn’t shaking or crying today, knowing I was having roots removed. I did it, no crying, drove myself and came out smiling. I had an appointment Tuesday 6th June to have a filling refill, I must say it went much better than I thought and after around 5 minutes I manage to relax more and realised there wasn't any pain but just sounds from the equipment being used. I joined Desford Dentists more than ten years ago after another dentist carried out excessive cosmetic work on my, then, perfectly healthy teeth and convinced me to have veneers that I could have avoided.Since I've been with Hanish he has repaired and corrected the damage done to my teeth and, using superior materials to previously, has given me a smile that everybody comments on.His friendly and caring nature along with his vast knowledge of dentistry has led me to recommend his practice to numerous friends and family.All of the staff from the reception are so polite and helpful and nothing seems too much trouble.Recently Laura (trained by Hanish) carried out a root canal procedure on myself and I hardly felt a thing. Hanush himself frequently looked in to check on progress and he gave her work the thumbs up after checking my x-ray results.This is the new benchmark for how all dentist practices should operate and they deserve all the credit and recognition they receive 👏 🙌

I had joined the practice at the beginning of the year, knowing that my teeth was in pretty bad shape. Im someone who gets really nervous at the dentist but I was greeted with Ria who was so lovely and wonderful from the very start! She made me feel at ease and talked me through every process! I did have to have quiet a lot of treatment which meant a lot of needles which I’m not a big fan of, but she made me feel very comfortable and I might even say I don’t mind them anymore! I can’t thank her enough for helping me get my teeth back healthy! I Would also like to mention how lovely the reception staff are as well! Always a smile on there faces and incredibly helpful! I got an emergency appointment on the day I contacted the practice. The extraction a day later wasn’t easy but Ria persevered and removed all the roots. She took time from her lunch to do this as they were very short staffed due to illness. Both Ria and Andrea were professional and calm and even though clearly pushed for time they gave me all the time I needed to get settled and calm me down. Much appreciated and a credit to the practice.

I have recently used The Enlighten Evolution3 teeth whitening product as recommended by Mr Pabari at Desford and I couldn’t be happier with the results.Using the product nightly takes a bit of commitment and your gums can become quite sensitive. However, it is only a few weeks and the sensitivity quickly disappears once finished and there’s always the option to stop for a day or more if you need to.In a short time my teeth have gone several shades lighter making my smile look bright and healthy, it’s such a difference. I notice it every time I look in the mirror. It’s a massive confidence boost and I’m absolutely delighted with it. I’ll definitely keep it topped up.I was given great instructions on how to use it and it’s easier than you maybe think it will be. Would definitely recommend.

Have been with this dental practice since it opened. Great, friendly staff. The receptionists are always welcoming and if you ever feel nervous or unsure the dentists are always calm and reassuring. Had an injection to numb for a filling today. I was nervous about it and Hanish made me feel relaxed. Also, very grateful for their work throughout covid as many of my friends at other dental practices could not get face to face appointments and were struck off. This dental practice were there when I needed them.

I had my teeth whitened at the surgery with the Enlighten system and am really pleased with the results. The process was simple, comfortable and I didn't experience any sensitivity.I have always been nervous about visiting the dentist and avoided seeing a dentist for several years before registering at Desford. Great service all round. Was given a few different options for what i needed and honest advice for which would be best. Fantastic dental practice. Great staff, and lovely surgery. I have spent the last four weeks transforming my smile with the help of Shilpa. She has done biocelar composites on four of my teeth and the results are amazing. I’ve also had a new wire retainer and plastic retainer and nothing has been a problem. A great dentist with a lovely welcoming atmosphere and very COVID safe, all measures have been taken to avoid you having contact with any other patient and you feel totally at ease, great organisation from you all. What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® has been helping to straighten teeth since the 1990s. Using their patented SmartTrack material, and ClinCheck 3D treatment plant, Invisalign® can help patients see their straighter smile before the treatment even starts. This clear aligner system works to straighten the teeth in a subtle way that doesn’t intrude on your lifestyle too much, and which can produce results within months.

How does it work?

After a consultation with us here and deciding on Invisalign® as your preferred treatment, we’ll then take an impression or digital scan of your mouth. This will then be sent off to a laboratory where your unique clear aligner trays will be made.

Once ready, you’ll return to us at the practice to pick them up and then continue to wear the aligners day and night for next nine to 18 months or so. You will have to switch out your aligner trays every 1-2 weeks to ensure your teeth are moving in the desired direction.

Will it hurt?

Invisalign® clear aligners shouldn’t hurt, but you may experience some discomfort when you first start to wear the aligners. This is because of the pressure being exerted on your teeth in order to move and realign them. Most patients get used to the sensation very quickly, and soon don’t even notice it.

Do I have to wear them all the time?

To produce the ideal results in the fastest time possible, you should wear you Invisalign® day and night. You can, however, remove them to eat and brush your teeth. Luckily, the aligners are subtle enough that most people you meet probably won’t even realise you’re wearing them.

How long does the treatment take?

This will vary from patient to patient and is dependent on the position of the teeth at the start of the treatment, but most patients wear their Invisalign® for 6-18 months.

What can Invisalign® fix?

Crowded teeth

Crowded teeth is a condition where you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause plaque or tartar and other harmful bacteria to build up as it is harder for you to brush and floss well.

Gaps between teeth

Gaps between teeth is when there is extra space between two or more of your teeth. This can cause pockets between your teeth and gums and can cause food to get stuck making them tender and sore. This might also lead to gum disease.

Open bite

An Open bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth. An open bite can make it hard for you to chew or difficult to bite even the most common of food like apples.

Underbite

your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly.

Overbite

An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, your doctor might tell you you have a deep bite. This can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.

Crossbite

A crossbite is when you close your mouth and yet some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.

How often will I change my Invisalign aligners?

Your Invisalign Doctor will tell you how often you should change to new Invisalign aligners (this can vary based on your individual treatment plan). Many Invisalign Doctors recommend changing Invisalign clear aligners weekly or every other week.

How often will I have appointments with my Invisalign Doctor?

Your Invisalign Doctor will schedule regular appointments, usually about once every four to six weeks. The goal of these visits is to ensure your Invisalign treatment is progressing as planned.

My Invisalign Doctor mentioned “attachments”. What are they and why would I need them for my Invisalign treatment?

Your Invisalign treatment may require SmartForce attachments, small tooth-coloured shapes that are attached to your teeth.

These shapes serve as handles, giving the aligners something to gently push on in order to move your teeth with the right amount of force, and are what make complex tooth movements possible without braces. Invisalign clear aligners fit smoothly and tightly around them, so they’re barely noticeable.

While not everyone who uses Invisalign clear aligners will need SmartForce attachments, if you need them, your Invisalign Doctor will attach them to your teeth at the start of or during your treatment and remove them when they are no longer needed.

I have veneers or crowns. Will Invisalign clear aligners work with them?

I have bridgework on several teeth. Will Invisalign clear aligners still work?

Can I take my aligners off whenever I need to?

Yes, you can remove your Invisalign aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. You can take them off for special occasions, like a wedding, job interview, or for playing your favourite sport or instrument. Just remember to wear them 20 to 22 hours a day to get the best results.

Are there any restrictions on what I can eat while in treatment?

None! Invisalign clear aligners are removable, so there are no food restrictions at all (hello popcorn!). With traditional wires and brackets, there’s a long list of foods you unfortunately can’t enjoy, as they can damage or get stuck in your braces.

Is Invisalign treatment painful?

Invisalign treatment moves your teeth by applying gentle, constant force, but some people do feel temporary discomfort for the first few days of wearing a new set of aligners. Typically, people describe it as feeling “pressure” and it’s normal — it’s a sign your Invisalign clear aligners are working and transforming your smile.

Sometimes when I remove my aligners, my teeth feel loose. Is that common?

Will Invisalign treatment still work if I only wear my aligners while I sleep?

You need to wear your Invisalign aligners 20 to 22 hours a day to get the results you want.

Will wearing Invisalign clear aligners affect my speech?

It may take a couple of days for your tongue to get used to having your Invisalign aligners in your mouth, and you may have a slight lisp. But this should disappear quickly.

Will smoking stain my aligners?

We discourage smoking while wearing Invisalign aligners because it can stain them.

Can I chew gum while wearing aligners?

No, gum will stick to your Invisalign aligners. We recommend removing your aligners for all meals and snacks, including gum.

Can the aligners slip off while I’m asleep?

It is very unlikely that your aligners would ever fall out, no matter what you are doing: sleeping, talking, laughing, etc. Invisalign clear aligners are designed to fit snugly around your teeth, so this should not be a cause for concern.

I went on a trip and forgot to take my aligners with me. Will my aligners still fit?

The answer depends on how long you’ve gone without wearing your Invisalign aligners. If it’s only been a short time, your aligners should still fit, but they might feel uncomfortable. If it’s been a longer time, talk to your Invisalign Doctor about your unique situation.
