What is BioClear bonding?

BioClear bonding is a type of composite bonding first developed in the USA. This advanced technique uses clear forms that are filled with a heated composite material that has been shade matched to your teeth. They will be inserted into just below the gum line, helping the teeth appear as though they are emerging more naturally, and helping to produce a more even, symmetrical smile.

What issues can BioClear bonding be used to address?

Some of the most successful uses of BioClear bonding include addressing black triangles, building up uneven teeth (due to injury or wear and tear), and closing gaps between the teeth.

What are black triangles?

Black triangles refer to the space between the teeth at the gum line which can appear as a black gap – this is officially termed open gingival embrasures, but most people simply refer to them as ‘black triangles.’

As one of the most common complaints from patients, at Desford Dental Care, we’re proud to be able to offer our patients a minimally invasive way to treat and rectify this issue. Black triangles are more often than not caused by bone loss or recessive gum disease, but they can also be caused by the movement of the tooth. This could either be natural movement, or movement as instructed through orthodontic treatment such as braces or clear aligners.

Not only can black triangles cause a lack of confidence in your smile, but it can also lead to further oral health issues. Debris and food can become trapped resulting in a greater likelihood of plaque build up and tooth decay. But thanks to BioClear bonding, Dr Shilpa can address all these issues in a minimally invasive way.

Can BioClear be used to address diastemas?

Yes. Otherwise known as a gap between two teeth, we can certainly use BioClear bonding to close a diastema. Not all patients see the need to close a gap between the teeth, but other patients may wish to for aesthetic reasons. With BioClear bonding, we’re able to close gaps between the teeth in a minimally invasive way that is both comfortable and cost-effective for the patient.
