At Desford Dental Care, our compassionate team take the greatest of care with all our patients, but especially our youngest patients.
We know how important it is to make sure children are receiving high-quality dental care from an early age. Here at Desford Dental Care, we promote preventive care to all our patients and know that prevention should begin at the earliest stage possible to help ensure the top chance of long-term oral health.
What dental care for children do you provide?
Depending on the age of your child, we will simply provide regular check-ups for most children. As they get older, we will use these examinations to check whether or not they need any further treatment. This could include fluoride treatment, for example, or perhaps orthodontic treatment as they get older.
When should I bring my child in for a check-up?
We recommend yearly check-ups for children. You should aim to bring your child in when their first tooth erupts, or by the time they turn one, so that we can be sure their oral health is on track. Bringing them in to see us at this stage will also help get them used to the dentist, and hopefully, ensure that they don’t develop any fears or phobias regarding the dentist or dental care in general.
What can I do to help care for my child’s oral health at home?
The top thing you can do is normalise good oral health and hygiene. This means demonstrating good oral healthcare yourself and ensuring your children brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste. If you’re unsure of how to develop a good oral healthcare routine for your children, our well informed, friendly team, will be able to help you do so.
