At Desford Dental Care, we can help our patients feel happy and confident in their own skin by providing treatments such as dermal fillers to help combat the signs of ageing.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers use an injectable form of hyaluronic acid to help the skin appear firmer, and plumper, to improve elasticity, and to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. Unfortunately, our skin stops producing it as we age, which contributes to some of the visible signs of ageing, causing the skin to appear less hydrated, less plump, and less firm. It is widely used in skincare products such as serums and moisturisers, but when injected directly into the skin, its properties are put to even better use.
What is the treatment like?
This is a non-surgical, minimally-invasive treatment that usually takes less than 30 minutes. We will discuss which areas of the face and neck you wish to treat beforehand in a consultation, and then one of our trained skin team will apply the dermal fillers.
Which areas can be treated with dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers can be applied anywhere on the face and neck, but are most often used around the nose, mouth, and eyes to address fine lines and wrinkles. They can help add plumpness to the skin, helping it to appear younger and firmer.
Examples of where Dermal fillers can be used are:
- Lip Enhancement- To add volume to the lips( very popular !)
- Cheek Lift- To add volume to the cheeks
- Soften Nasolabial folds- Lines between mouth and nose
- Temple Hollowing- Loss of volume on the side of the forehead between corner of the eye and hairline.
How long do the results last?
Most patients find that the results of their dermal filler treatment last for up to 18 months.
When will I see the results?
Some patients notice results even before they leave the practice, but most patients report seeing results within a few days.
Does it hurt?
We will apply a numbing agent before applying the treatment, so you won’t experience any discomfort.
